About the course

This practical one-day PAT Testing course is designed to give you the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to carry out Portable Appliance Testing safely and competently.

Whether you need to test equipment within your own organisation or you're planning to offer PAT Testing as a professional service, the course provides a straightforward, hands-on introduction to current PAT Testing procedures and best practice.

Training is led by Tim James, who has been involved in PAT Testing since 1986 and has been teaching the subject since 1993. Tim was also a member of the IET committee responsible for updating the current Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment, helping to shape the guidance used throughout the industry today.

Unlike many PAT Testing courses, we focus on practical competence rather than simply presenting legislation and theory. Throughout the day you'll see demonstrations, carry out practical testing exercises and gain a clear understanding of how to inspect, test and record electrical equipment correctly.

The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with existing electrical knowledge. Many of our delegates are landlords, facilities managers, maintenance staff, business owners, electricians, DJs, entertainers and people looking to start a PAT Testing business.

By the end of the course you'll understand not only how to carry out the tests, but also how to interpret the results and apply current guidance with confidence in real-world situations.
